3 Wives Claim for the Body of Man Executed for Drug Trafficking in Kuwait

After a 46-year-old man from Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, was found guilty of drug trafficking in Kuwait and executed by the court, his body was brought back to Colombo. However, three of his wives have come forward to claim their rights over the body, creating a complex situation.

All three women presented valid marriage certificates and had children with the deceased man. The woman claiming to be the first wife has been married to him for 17 years and has two children. She is ready to submit her marriage certificate, which would invalidate the claims of the other two women.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Employment Bureau insurance compensation for the deceased is also a matter of contention among the women. The first wife informed the police that she learned about her husband’s death from the internet and wishes to join in the final rites.

The deceased man’s mother has refused to accept her son’s body, while one of his brothers has offered to accept it. The relatives are considering conducting the final rites in Negombo without taking the body to the village due to the ongoing dispute.
