The National Sports Selection Committee chaired by Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has recommended seven members for the new Cricket Selection Committee.
The new committee will make all the selections, including those of the youth teams. This selection committee will be responsible for all selection activities, including the selection of men’s and women’s national teams as well as youth teams.
It is said that Asantha de Mel, who was the chairman of the Cricket Selection Committee, has been appointed as the chairman once again. The other members are Chaminda Mendis, Pramodya Wickramarasinghe, Hemantha Devapriya, Ranjith Madurasinghe, Uwais Karnain and Nilmini Gunaratne. Minister of Sports Namal Rajapaksa has to approve the 7 member Cricket Selection Committee recommended by the National Sports Selection Committee.
