Sri Lanka’s Paralympian Dinesh Priyantha set a new world record in the game of javelin throw at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo today.
He won the Gold Medal for the event by throwing the javelin at a distance of 67.79 metres which was marked as a world record.
Dinseh Priyantha was born in Kagama, Anuradhapura North Central province of Sri Lanka. At a young age he joined Sri Lanka Army and was attached to 3rd Gajaba Regiment. He joined the Sri Lankan Army at the age of 18 in 2004.
Dinesh was wounded in Kilinochchi during the final stages of the humanitarian operations on 16 December 2008 and retired from the Army on medical grounds at the age of 22
