A 35-year-old woman from Boragodawatta, Minuwangoda, was admitted to Gampaha Hospital in serious condition after experiencing a severe allergic reaction to a chemical used during a hair treatment at a beauty salon. The incident occurred yesterday (30th) when the woman visited a salon located in the Sanasa building near the Minuwangoda bus stand to have her hair braided.
According to police sources, the salon applied a chemical mixture to the woman’s hair, which soon caused her discomfort. As the salon staff brushed her hair, it began to fall out. She was immediately taken to Minuwangoda Hospital and later transferred to Gampaha Hospital for further treatment, where she is currently receiving care.
In response to a complaint filed by the victim, officers from the Minuwangoda Police and the Children and Women’s Bureau visited the beauty salon but found it closed. The salon owner has reportedly fled the area, and the police are actively searching for her.
The Minuwangoda Police plan to report the incident to the court today. Investigations to apprehend the salon owner are ongoing.
