During his tenure as a government minister, the CID had secretly tapped into his WhatsApp phone calls former Minister of Metropolitan and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka today (21) requested the Speaker to summon the Privilege Committee of Parliament and then take appropriate legal action.
Former Minister Champika Ranawaka further stated that WhatsApp phone calls are not normally heard by an outsider and that special technology is needed to capture these messages sent by the data and that the CID should investigate how this technology came to be.
