Eminent Buddhist scholar Ven. Walpola Kalyanathissa Thero passes away in Geneva

Spiritual Director of the International Buddhist Foundation (IBF) in Geneva Switzerland and Chief Incumbent of Sudassana Meditation Center of  Minuwangoda, Sri Lanka eminent Buddhist scholar Venerable Dr. Walpola Kalyanathissa Thera has passed away in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Thera was” of age at his demise. Ve. Kalyanathissa debuts his monkhood career by ordinating in 1967. After fulfilling his Piriven education Thera entered the University of Peradeniya in 1975. Then he read for Doctor of Philosophy in Pali literature with special reference to Abhidhamma  (PhD), University of Calcutta, in 1981-1985.
After obtaining the basic degree Ven Kalyanathissa Thera.

He was also the founding principal of Bhikkhu Training College, Saranath of Varanasi India.
More than 30 years of spiritual service in Europe Kalyanathissa Thera contributed immensely to the upliftment of the mindful practice of people and the propagation of Dhamma. He was the Spiritual Director of Spiritual director of the Zurich Buddhist Vihara in Lenzburg Switzerland.

Being a scholar in French at the University of Charles de Gaulle Lille, France, from 1987 to 1990 he disseminated Dhamma to many contemporary students in the university. The Thera led the UN  Buddhist Mission during 2000 – 2005.
Being a Meditation practitioner and Counsellor Thera acted as the Director & custodian of   the Lemonic Buddhist Foundation in Morges, Switzerland also.
