In Geneva, a series of grand Vesak celebrations unfolded, resonating with profound significance as Buddhists gathered to honor the life and teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, commonly known as the Lord Buddha. Meticulously orchestrated by the International Buddhist Foundation of Geneva, under the guiding hand of Welagedara Sumanajothi Thero, these events encapsulated the essence of Vesak – a time of reflection, reverence, and spiritual renewal.

The festivities commenced with a serene Sil program on May 23rd, held at the IBF temple. Devotees engaged in acts of self-discipline and mindfulness from dawn till dusk, fostering a sense of inner peace and harmony among participants and setting the tone for the forthcoming celebrations.

A highlight of the Vesak calendar was the special program on May 24th at the FGS Temple, where devotees had the rare opportunity to pay homage to sacred Buddha relics respectfully brought from the ancient Kotawehera temple in Sri Lanka. This spiritual exposition, enriched by traditional rituals and religious ceremonies, evoked a profound sense of awe and reverence among all attendees.
