According to the specialist, one pregnant mother has died due to Covid infection and five other mothers are in critical condition. Dr. Devolage further said, “The new Covid virus that is currently spreading in Sri Lanka is spreading faster than we thought. It seems to have a greater impact on the infected. At present some countries are aware of this situation and are vaccinating pregnant mothers as well. But it is up to those with expert knowledge to decide which vaccine should be given to them. We emphasize that in order to minimize the possible maternal mortality, these people need to take action regarding vaccination. He said.
