The Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) states that doctors who claim to have successfully developed drugs against the Covid 19 virus must be evaluated and approved by the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) before being introduced to the public.
The President of the Medical Council Prof. Vajira Dissanayake has issued a special statement stating that disciplinary action will be taken against doctors who do not comply with this provision in accordance with the Sri Lanka Medical Ordinance.
The notice calls on all electronic and print media outlets in the country to look into whether such drugs are approved by the National Medicines Regulatory Authority before giving the publicity.
