Three Covid infected Kids die in Kandy Hospital

Seven deaths from Covid infection including three small children were reported from the Kandy Hospital today (10).

Among the seven deaths were two children who were being treated at the Intensive Care Unit of the Covid Treatment Unit at the Kandy Hospital yesterday.

There were 5 deaths due to Covid pneumonia were reported from the Kandy Hospital yesterday. Four of them died at home. According to hospital sources, the patients did not show any symptoms of Covid and were admitted to the hospital with severe pneumonia.

Also, 07 deaths of Covid patients have been reported from the Kandy Hospital alone the day before yesterday.

So far 19 Covid deaths including three small children have been reported from the Kandy hospital alone in three days.

At present, more than 130 asymptomatic Covid patients are being treated at home in the Kandy District under the supervision of Public Health Inspectors.

The Central Provincial Director of Health Services said that the PCR conducted at the Kandy Hospital. Between 200 and 210 out of 370 people are diagnosed with Covid infections.

Health officials say it is important to conduct extensive PCR tests to diagnose the disease, as covid pneumonia has worsened and there are now reports of deaths or serious deaths at home.

This was stated by the Health Authority at a special meeting of the Steering Committee to control the spread of Kovid at the Kandy District Secretariat yesterday (09).
