Dr. Sudath Samaraweera has issued a warning about the rising number of dengue patients and emphasized the critical need to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds. Dengue cases have surged to the extent that patients are filling up hospitals, including a stadium being utilized for treatment.

Currently, around 4,000 individuals are undergoing treatment for dengue, and the situation could escalate, potentially leading to an increase in fatalities.

Dr. Samaraweera anticipates a further spike in reported dengue cases in the coming days. Notably, the Colombo District has recorded the highest number of dengue patients.
