An individual has been remanded until the 24th of July for allegedly recording the movie “Sinhabahu,” which late actor Jackson Anthony was involved in before his fatal accident during filming at Sigiri Cinema Hall in Katugastota, and subsequently uploading it to YouTube.
The Computer Crime Investigation Division of the Sri Lanka Police initiated an investigation into the incident and arrested the suspect. This followed a complaint by the movie’s director, Somaratne Dissanayake, alleging that the suspect had secretly recorded the movie using a mobile device. The Police Computer Crime Unit is conducting further investigations into the matter.
After the accident, actor Anthony was in a coma for several months. Subsequently, Anthony’s elder son took over responsibilities related to his role. Both of Anthony’s sons are playing crucial roles in the movie, which depicts one of the most famous folklore stories in Sri Lankan culture.
Sri Lanka recently passed an Online Safety Act, despite opposition from various political parties and social activists.
