The United National Party and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna will contest the upcoming Local government elections as one alliance UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara confirmed.
He revealed this following a meeting between two parties held on today (10).
They have decided to contest in selective local bodies under the UNP symbol while in some bodies they will contest under the Pohotuwa. . In some other bodies, the alliance will contest under a new symbol but it has not been decided about the symbol party sources said.
