Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court rejected an anticipatory bail application filed by Adarsha Karandana who held a media conference about Professor Ashu Marasinghe seeking an order directing the CID to release her on anticipatory bail if she was arrested over a complaint made by Prof. Marasinghe.
Adarsha Karandana, who held a media briefing along with former Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra had filed an anticipatory bail application in Court to pre-empt the possibility of her arrest by CID relating to a complaint made by Prof. Marasinghe.
A video recording of Prof. Ashu Marasinghe allegedly showing him sexually abusing a dog had gone viral after it was released to the media by Adarsha Karandana and SJB former Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra.
In her anticipatory bail application, Adarsha Karandana informed Court that there is an attempt by the CID to arrest her over a complaint lodged by Ashu Marasinghe alleging that statements made to the media were absolutely false and a doctored video clipping had been utilized for this purpose.
