Two Filipino women, aged 36 and 35, were robbed at the villa in the Bussa, Pitiwella area, where they were residing on the upper floor.
During the incident, the two women were staying in a room on the upper floor when they discovered that their valuables, including a gold necklace, a bracelet, a wristwatch, and 300 pounds sterling (equivalent to 120,000 Sri Lankan rupees), had gone missing from their bags overnight. The police suspect that someone had broken into the room where the two Filipinos were staying.
It’s important to note that several houses in the Rathgama Bussa Pitwella area serve as accommodations for foreign tourists, although not all of these houses have proper security measures in place. Some of the room doors were reportedly broken and lacked proper security.
The police have made efforts to inform house owners about these security concerns and are actively investigating the theft.
