A devastating incident occurred this morning (01) on a highway in Maharashtra, resulting in the death of 25 people, including three children, and leaving eight others injured.
The accident took place around 1.30 am when a public transport bus carrying approximately 33 passengers, en route to Pune, caught fire after overturning upon hitting a pole on the expressway.
The surviving bus driver reported that the accident occurred due to a tire burst, which caused the bus to collide with the pole before engulfing in flames. Superintendent of Police, Buldana, Sunil Kadsane, confirmed that 25 individuals tragically lost their lives in the accident, while the injured, including the bus driver, were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The immediate focus of the authorities is to identify the victims and facilitate their repatriation to their respective families, as stated by Kadsane. Expressing deep remorse over the incident, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh for each of the deceased victims.
