In a tragic incident today (06) morning, a Colombo-Matugama passenger bus was struck by catastrophe when a tree toppled onto it, resulting in the loss of five lives.
The horrifying accident unfolded approximately at 6 AM, mere meters away from the Kollupitiya Liberty Roundabout while the bus was en route to Bambalapitiya along Duplication Road.
This incident has left 17 individuals injured, with two passengers trapped inside the bus in a state of extreme distress. A joint effort by the police and the air force eventually led to their rescue.
All those affected have been promptly admitted to Colombo National Hospital for medical attention and care.
