The high-tech Chinese dual-purpose vessel Yuan Wang 5, which recently arrived at the Hambantota port under close surveillance by India and caused much controversy, quietly left the Hambantota port yesterday (23).

Indian sources said that after the vessel arrived at the Southern Hambantota port in Sri Lanka, three Indian satellites were closely monitoring the ship’s activities. Unconfirmed reports said that these satellites have, jammed the release of the ship’s satellite monitoring signals.

Accordingly, India has used GSAT-7, EMISAT & RISAT satellites to monitor the ship’s movements from the time the ship entered the Indian Ocean region.

These satellites closely monitored the vessel by feeding information to the satellite control rooms. Reports said the Indian satellites had disabled the satellite monitoring capabilities of the Chinese high-tech dual-purpose ship.
