The Ambalangoda Police reported that a group of thieves broke into the house of former Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya in Poramba, Ambalangoda, and stole several valuable items.
According to a police spokesperson, Deshapriya and his wife arrived at their Ambalangoda residence around 2 p.m. on November 23 and discovered the break-in. He immediately filed a complaint with the Ambalangoda Police.
In the complaint, Deshapriya stated that the stolen items included a television, two gas cylinders, and four valuable watches. He mentioned that he lives in Colombo with his family and only visits the Ambalangoda house occasionally.
Investigations revealed that the thieves had entered by forcing open the front door. The Ambalangoda Police confirmed that no arrests have been made yet.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Crime Branch, led by Inspector Isuru Pathijeewa, under the supervision of Chief Inspector Prasanna Elgiriya, the OIC of the Ambalangoda Police Headquarters.
