The youth who allegedly tried to set fire to a fuel bowser during the Rambukkana protest was arrested by the Police CID last night (22). The suspect is a 27 year old resident of Pinnawala, Rambukkana.

Video footage showed the man approaching the fuel bowser and attempting to extinguish the blaze.

It was pointed out on social media that this person was going to the place from near the police officers. When the Rambukkana murder case was called for a third day yesterday, Kegalle Magistrate Vasana Navaratne asked the police whether they had identified the person who had set fire to the bowser, but the police investigation team said that he had not been identified.

The police stated in court that there was no evidence that the person who was shot and killed was the one who tried to set fire to the bowser.
