The police arrested a science teacher of a Tamil school in Watawala area today (15) following a complaint that the teacher sexually harassed three schoolgirls.
According to the police, the suspect has sent text messages to three grade 10 schoolgirls with the intention of inducing them to have sex. However, when the students avoided provocations, the suspect has sexually harassed the schoolgirls.
Investigations have revealed that this 44-year-old science teacher is a father of two children.
The suspect is set to be produced before Hatton Magistrate’s Court. A police team is conducting further investigations under the guidance of Chandana Gamage, Police Station Officer, Watawala.
