Former Minister Chandima Wirakkodi, Galle District MP of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna says that people are asking lightning attacks for those involved in the sugar fraud.
He stated this at a media briefing held in Galle. Mr Chandima Wirakkody also stated as follows.

“People are asking thunder attack for the persons involved in the sugar scam. Innocent poor people in our villages do not drink Red Bull to gain strength. A cup of tea with a little more sugar. The innocent worker in our country gains his strength by drinking a cup of tea with a little bit of sugar, just as our athletes eat glucose. There should be no excuse for selling the worker’s cup of tea for more than three times the price at 215 or 220 rupees which were earlier at 65 rupees.

The Secretary to the President has illegally sent a letter to the Office of the Commissioner of Companies Registration asking to stop the registration of companies with foreign shares in this country. Why not take action to sell sugar in this unfair way. Therefore, we call on the people to stop this heinous crime. Today, when a kilo of dhal costs Rs.250. we are blamed by the people who receive 2000 Rupees.” MP Wirakkody said
