Sri Lanka’s Family Health Bureau states that 11212 sterilization surgeries were performed during the last year (2020) under family planning activities.
Compared to 2019, the number of sterilizations in 2020 has decreased by 2671.
As a contraceptive measure, 17320 have implanted loops in 2020 and 22902 women have used oral contraceptives in the same year. According to the Bureau, contraceptive injections have been taken by 40295 women.
The number planted was 37070. According to the Family Health Bureau, the number of new entrants to family planning activities is 128,799.
