Sri Lanka has placed an order of 14 million doses of Pfizer vaccines for the booster dose to Belgium The Deputy General Manager of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation Dinusha Dassanayake said. These vaccines will be given as a third dose to those who received both doses of Covid vaccine.
The DGM further said that 14 million such vaccines are due to be delivered to Sri Lanka by next December.
According to him that 5 million doses of Pfizer vaccine have been imported so far and are already being distributed to age groups recommended by the Epidemiology Unit.
The Ministry of Health states that it has not yet been decided who will be given this third dose and it will be decided by the Epidemiology Division in the future.
It is said that the Epidemiology Unit has taken steps to limit the Pfizer vaccine to one dose as it has been given to school children these days.
