Sri Lanka Cricket has vehemently refuted the accusations made by Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe during a recent press conference, deeming them as baseless and malicious. The cricket board issued a statement expressing its concern over the Minister’s statements, which it believes are intended to incite the public and exert undue influence on matters related to the organization.
The statement also highlights that the Sports Minister seems to lack a comprehensive understanding of the complexities associated with the work of the ICC parent association and its affiliated members. It underscores the obligation of the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, who also serves as a director on the ICC Board of Directors, to uphold the objectives outlined in the ICC Charter.
Furthermore, Sri Lanka Cricket emphasizes that every ICC director, including the Sri Lanka Cricket President, has a responsibility to communicate the existing situation when there are concerns that fulfilling prescribed responsibilities may be compromised due to the actions of the Sports Minister.
