The Galagedara police have arrested a 58-year-old man in connection with the serious sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl at the court premises.
The incident occurred when the victim, accompanied by her mother, was present at the court in front of the probation office. The alleged perpetrator, temporarily residing in the Poojapitiya area, committed the crime against the girl during her court visit.
Probation officers apprehended the suspect and handed him over to the Galagedara police, who subsequently made the arrest. The victim’s statements have been recorded and submitted to the District Medical Officer of Galagedara Hospital under her mother’s custody.
The Galagedara police are conducting further investigations into the case.
