The official car carrying the Governor of the Eastern Province, Sendil Thondaman, was involved in a collision with a motorcyclist on the Akkarapattuwa Ampara road near the Kothalawala junction around 3:30 pm yesterday (19).
The motorcyclist and the pillion rider sustained injuries in the accident and were hospitalized. Meanwhile, the governor’s official car suffered damages in the collision.
The police have reported that the governor’s driver was arrested in connection with the accident and subsequently released on bail.
