The Sri Lanka Freedom Party, which had declared that it would not vote for anyone in the presidential election, has changed its position and decided to use its vote for Dallas Alahapperuma.
Sri Lanka Freedom Party General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara stated that this decision was taken by the Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party this evening.
This decision comes at a time when it is being reported that a group of SLNP has agreed to support Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Meanwhile MPs Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila and the independent group from the ruling party have decided to vote for MP Dullas Alahapperuma in the vote to elect the President.
MP Weerawansa informed the decision during a press briefing held today.
