Prevailing adverse weather conditions in Sri Lanka have impacted 20 districts across the island.
The Disaster Management Center reported that 80,642 families in 166 Divisional Secretariat Divisions have been affected. A total of 276,550 people are impacted, with 16,553 individuals from 5,305 families currently seeking shelter in safe locations.
Meanwhile, the Irrigation Department stated that flood conditions persist in low-lying areas surrounding reservoirs.
Mrs. G.W.A. Sakura Dilthara, an Irrigation Engineer from the department, warned that flood levels are expected to rise further due to increasing water levels in the Deduru Oya and the Mahaweli River.
