Sajith blames gov, saying an attempt to grab money from pensioners!

Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa has said that the government has decided to arbitrarily rob the pensions of innocent pensioners in the country.
The Opposition Leader further stated that the money will be deducted under the pretext of crediting the pensioners’ money to Agrahara Insurance.

The Leader of the Opposition said that the government was trying to make up for the loss by giving billions in tax concessions to the rich as soon as the government came to power. He also said that action will be taken unconditionally against the process.

The Leader of the Opposition visited the Nedigamwila Rajamaha Viharaya this afternoon (06) and received blessings from the Anunayake Durandara Most Ven. Uyanwatta Saddharama Thero of the Amarapura Siri Saddhamma Yutthika Maha Nikaya.

The Leader of the Opposition has expressed his disgust at the government’s fraudulent and shameless move to strategically slash the pensions of hundreds of thousands of pensioners in the country in the name of strengthening agrahara insurance. The Leader of the Opposition said that the government had issued the latest circular on October 29 to cut off Rs. 400 from those under the age of 70.

The circular states that retirees should read the circular and state within two weeks that they are opposed to receiving the money, and asked how many retirees in our country read these circulars. The opposition leader said it was a shameless robbery and that the government was violent enough to take revenge on retirees who were living in old age.

The Leader of the Opposition said that the appointment of a Seven Brain Finance Minister was not to rob the money of the innocent people of the country in this manner.

The Leader of the Opposition said that he would take all possible measures against this act as a united force and that he would not hesitate to go to court to secure the privileges of retirees in this country.

The Leader of the Opposition also participated in the monitoring of the Nedigamwila Navoda Community Water Project.
