Retired Army Colonel’s Son Arrested in Fake Currency Printing Racket

The Egodauyana police have arrested a 47-year-old resident of Wadduwa Molligoda, the son of a retired army colonel, for operating a fake currency note printing racket. The suspect was found in possession of 30 counterfeit currency notes of 5000 rupees, including 10 notes printed on one side.

Acting on received information, the police discovered 10 fake currency notes near the Egoda Uyana Roundabout. Subsequent searches at the suspect’s residence led to the discovery of an additional 20 currency notes, along with a printer, 2 ink bottles, a cutter, a foot pad, 10 printing papers, and other equipment.

The arrested individual, whose father holds a retired army colonel rank, is scheduled to appear before the Moratuwa Magistrate’s Court. The operation was conducted by a police team led by Senior Superintendent of Police Mangala Dehideniya and Assistant Superintendent of Police Tarindu Anurange, with the support of Station Officer Inspector Anil Masakorala, and Constable 102110 Evanta and Pokori 17072.
