The owner of the Good Food restaurant fell victim to a targeted shooting by a group of hired assassins, in front of the restaurant on Modara Street, Colombo 15, last night (13).
The victim, identified as fifty-two-year-old R. Umesh Kanna from Modara Wilbert Road, sustained serious injuries from the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at Colombo National Hospital. The assailants, arriving in a car, opened fire on the restaurant owner with a pistol before fleeing the scene.
Reports indicate that the victim suffered severe gunshot wounds to his right shoulder, neck, and leg during the attack.
Authorities have launched investigations into the incident to uncover the motives behind the assassination attempt. There are suspicions of underlying connections to ongoing underworld activities and recent incidents of violence, including targeted killings.
