A delegation of the Association of Relatives of Political Prisoners has met the leader of the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) Mavai Senathirajah on December 27 to demand that a political process be resumed for the release of political prisoners.

Former Chairman of the Northern Provincial Council CVK Sivagnanam was also present at the meeting held at the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi party headquarters in Jaffna. The relatives requested the TNA to meet the President and the Minister in charge of the subject again to discuss the matter.

During the discussion, Mavai Senathirajah has promised to meet the President while the TNA and other Tamil political parties make representations to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
