The President Gotabaya rajapaksa has conveyed to the Maha Nayaka Theras of tri Nikaya that he agrees for the proposed interim government Kandy sources said.
The President too has expressed his willingness to take immediate steps to resolve the crisis in the country through that government.
The Mahanayake Theras have been writing 06 consecutive letters since March 2 over the current crisis.However when there is no positive response was received to any of these letters, they stated in their final letter on the 22nd that they would work for a Sangha Consensus.
Thereafter the President has addressed the Mahanayake Theras inwriting and conveyed his preparedness for an interim government sources further said.
Sources further said that the President has sent the letter through the Secretary to the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Dr. Kapila Gunawardena, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, yesterday.
