Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told today that he was summoned by the Presidential Commission appointed to inquire about so called Pissu Pusa Commission report , for questioning over his remarks made in the Parliament.
informing to the speaker Mr. Wickremesinghe said that no one can question an MP on what he or she speaks in Parliament as per the Privileges Act,.
“My parliamentary privileges have been violated by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry which probes the acts of the previous government. “I have informed the commission that I will not come before it,” Mr. Wickremesinghe said.
He further pointed out that Pissu Pusa report , the report prepared by the Presidential Commission to investigate political victims during past regime will not be accepted by even Human Rights Commission. He also told to government that in such a backdrop government should tell us whether the government accept or reject this report. However he told that since the PCI doesn’t have judicial power the Parliament can be summoned them.
