The President of the Government Pharmacists’ Association Ajith Tillekeratne states that the stock of Anti Rabies Vaccines vaccines has been exhausted in hospitals.
He added that the lives of patients are at risk in the future as immunizations and life-saving drugs are in short supply and no action has yet been taken to bring them back.
According to the Sri Lankan health authorities 1000 dog bites are reported daily and around 50 % of them are needed to be vaccinated with anti rabies vaccines.
