Rajith Sells State Land – Samantha

Minister Samantha Vidyarathna clarified that he is working to provide electricity to an innocent rural village, stating that opposition to this project arose because of the intervention of Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon, former Governer and Secteterey to the Presidients office.ERETEREY PREand he provided a clear account of the situation.

The current state of affairs, supported by concrete evidence, was detailed by the Minister, who also presented the gazette notification issued in 2013 for the allocation of 44,422.5 acres of land in the reserve.

According to former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s directives in the “Village and Integration Program,” Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon later leveraged his position as Director General of the President’s Office to allocate 5,482 acres within the reserve at the rate of one million rupees per acre.

These lands were then distributed to numerous investors. The application submitted by Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon, utilizing a forged identity and signature to acquire 18 acres of land, was also revealed. Moreover, mango saplings, which had been provided free of charge to farmers by the government, were sold for 375 rupees each to the farmers on the land, all of which was exposed by the Minister Vidyaratna. .

The Minister emphasized that the individuals involved in this scam are part of a group known as the “Annasigala Farmer Organization,” .

Additionally, the Minister confirmed that electricity will be provided to the rural village of Unakanda, which has been deprived electricity.

The Minister further indicated that a complaint has been lodged with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding the fraudulent activities of Rajith Keerthi Tennakoon, and that investigations have been requested from the Department of Conservation regarding the illegal wiring of electricity within the reserve using public funds. These investigations are currently underway.
