The latest audit report issued by the National Audit Office states that, within a period of 17 months (from April 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023), 548 flights of SriLankan Airlines (UL) were delayed, with delays ranging from 3 hours to 59 hours.
Additionally, the audit report mentions that, due to flight delays and disruptions during the 2022/2023 financial year, the airline incurred a total cost of 784,000 US dollars.
The main reasons identified for the delays include the inability to obtain replacement aircraft on time, issues with the serviceable condition of neo engines, prolonged delays in acquiring spare parts for the aircraft, and the airline’s financial cash flow situation.
The management of the airline has stated in the audit report that several continuous corrective actions have been taken to address these issues.
These details are included in the audit report released for the 2023/2024 financial year of SriLankan Airlines.
