Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who is staying in the Maldives, although he was ready to leave for Singapore yesterday, he did not board the flight due to security reasons at the last minute sources said. Yesterday evening, strict security was deployed at Velena International Airport in Maldives and sources mentioned that President Rajapaksa’s wife and bodyguards were schedules to on board Singapore Airlines flight SQ 437 which was to depart from that airport at 11.25 last night for Singapore’s Changi International Airport. Although he had planned, they did not travel on that flight due to security reasons at the last minute.
These sources further state that the president will refrain from sending his resignation letter until he reaches a safe destination. These sources further states that the President, who is planning to go to Singapore, has a plan to leave for a Middle Eastern country.
