The Police sergeant who was arrested following the participation in the Gall Face struggle cladding with the uniform has been granted bail by Colombo Additional Magistrate Keminda Perera today (15) with three sureties Rs 300,000 each.
He was arrested by the Special Investigation Unit of the Police and produced before the court today after being detained at the Port Police Station for questioning.
A number of lawyers have come forward to assist him. He was released on bail and his trial was adjourned to April 29.
The police spokesman said that the police officer had been deployed on special duty at the Siripagama police station and had arrived at the scene in his official uniform without informing the authorities.
