Police seeks public support to catch the drug dealing tour guide!

The Police Headquarters is seeking the assistance of the public to arrest a key drug lord who escaped after dumping 125 kilos of heroin smuggled into the country from Pakistan by sea last week.

A statement issued by the Police Media Spokesman’s Office stated that the එourist guide named Udayanga Lakmal alias Shata is currently in hiding.

The racketeer, a resident of Kovilkanda, Kadewatta, Weligama, has been identified as a close associate of drug sumggler lives in Dubai Harak Kata, a drug lord from Dubai.

A small ship carrying a consignment of narcotics from Pakistan has loaded 125 kilos of narcotics into a trawler at the international maritime border near the southern coast. The drugs were ready to be unloaded at Kirinda.

According to information received in advance, the Police Narcotics Bureau raided the premises and arrested the suspects. The Narcotics Bureau then informed the Navy and instructed them to seize the trawler carrying the drugs. As the Navy fighter jets approached the trawler, they threw the drug into the deep sea.

Shata, a tour guide, has been identified as the mastermind of the racket and it has been revealed that he had recently stored and distributed hundreds of kilos of narcotics in the country.

The Police Headquarters requests the public to call 071-8592727, 011-2343333, 011-2343334 if they have any information about this person. The Police Headquarters is also ready to give away prizes to successful informants.
