The police protection has been provided to the Veddah Chief Uru Varigaye Wannya who has received death threats.
Accordingly, on the instructions of the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Uva Province, the protection of an armed police officer has been provided for him.
This officer has been assigned from Dambana Tourist Police Station .
Veddah leadr recently lodged a complaint with the Mahinyaganaya Police regarding the anonymous death threats against him and his realative, the convener of the Inter-University Student Council, Wasantha Mudalige.
In an inquiry made by Badulla Senior Superintendent of Police Sujith Vedamulla, Lankasara stated that a special investigation has been started in connection with the anonymous letter.
