The controlling party of the government, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna SLPP claims that Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila should resign immediately after accepting responsibility for the increase in fuel prices.
Issuing a statement by the party secretary Sagara Kariyawasam MP alleges that the government compelled to increase the fuel prices because of the inefficiency of the minister to take appropriate actions prevent the fuel hike. According to the SLPP Minister’s inefficiency has lead to increasing the fuel prices being a further burden to the people already in a painful situation battling difficulties due to pandemic.
Minister Gammanpila is the party leader of Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, a coalition party of the ruling government. However political sources said this objection against Minister Gammanpila is a result of; longstanding dispute with seniors of the controlling party. However, Mr. Gammanpila is preparing to make a statement regard on the issue tomorrow (13) sources said.
