Piumi Hansamali will not be arrested until 20th September – AG assures

The Attorney General assured the Court of Appeal today (15) that model Piumi Hasanmali, alleged to amass an irrational amount of assets, will not be arrested until September 20.

The Deputy Solicitor General, who appeared for the Attorney General, informed the court that the petitioner would not be arrested until the investigations were completed.


The Attorney General informed the court of this today when Piyumi Hansamali called for the hearing of the petition assigned by Piyumi Hansamali requesting that the Illegal Assets Investigation Division of the Secret Police issue a writ to the investigating officers including the Inspector General of Police.

However, the Supreme Court informed the Secret Police that the investigations against Piyumi Hansamali could be carried out without any hindrance.
