The second reading of the 2024 budget, presented to Parliament on the 13th by President Finance Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has been successfully passed this afternoon (21) with a majority of 45 votes.
The vote tally showed 122 in favor of the budget and 77 against. The speaker officially announced the approval of the second reading of the budget for the year 2024.
The upcoming debate on the third reading of the budget is scheduled to take place from tomorrow (22) until December 13.
