Open verdict over the death of Russian woman in Hikkaduwa

Hikkaduwa police say that the body parts of the Russian woman who was found floating in the Molapu Oya canal near Hikkaduwa Thotagamuwa bridge have been sent for further examination and the death has been given an open verdict.

The post-mortem examination of the deceased Russian national was conducted yesterday (17) by Dr C.T Mahanama, Assistant Judicial Medical Officer Forensic Officer at the Galle Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.

The police said that the foreigner handed over the body of the woman to her relatives. The police also said that the post-mortem examination confirmed that the death of the Russian woman was not a homicide.

The dead body of the Russian woman was found floating in Molapu Oya canal last (08). This is a 35-year-old Russian woman who lives alone in a villa near Molapu Oya, the police said.
