Shantha Silva, Joint Secretary of the Fuel Private Tanker Owners’ Association says that their trade union action is highly successful as there is not a single fuel tanker in their club reported to be in service.
The union leader blames to the Minister in charge for threatning them to revoke their licenses and challenged to the minister to do whatever the minister could do. He pointed out that the Minister’s stance was undemocratic.
“Okay, let’s just say our licenses have been revoked from today. How could they distribute fuel? … We need to understand the situation in this field. We demanded a very reasonable price revision. ”The co-secretary said.
However, the union announced that it would not abandon its trade union action until a just solution to the problem was found.
