Minister of Agriculture, Mahinda Amaraweera, has reassured the public that there is no current need for an increase in water charges, and therefore, such a proposal will not gain approval from the Cabinet.
The government acknowledges the financial strain that the recent electricity bill increase has placed on the public. However, Minister Amaraweera cited the escalation in the prices of imported materials, partly attributed to ongoing conflicts among several countries, as a contributing factor.
In light of these economic challenges, Minister Amaraweera emphasized the importance of unity and collective efforts to overcome the difficulties.
