The Sri Lanka Navy has intercepted a multi-day fishing vessel in the South Sea, seizing a significant quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of 378 crore rupees.

Acting on intelligence, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted an operation approximately 133 nautical miles from Dewandara Point, resulting in the apprehension of six suspects and the confiscation of illicit substances.

The seized narcotics included 179 kg and 906 grams of ice (Crystal Methamphetamine) and 83 kg and 582 grams of heroin. The operation also led to the detention of four additional suspects along with a local fishing vessel suspected of involvement in the drug trade.

Following the operation, the suspects and confiscated drugs were transported to Galle Port, where Naval Commander Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera oversaw the inspection.
