Navy apprehends illegal immigrants to Australia off Trincomalee

Sri Lanka Navy has arrested a boat ferrying 64 illegal immigrants to Australia between the seas of Mullaitivu and Trincomalee.

On observation, the Navy identified eleven women, three children and fifty men on board the boat carrying people across the deep seas.

After grilling the occupants, the Navy had found they were heading towards Australia.

The Navy towed the boat to the Trincomalee Harbour Police. Further investigations are underway.
